Helping you create a well-designed life is our collective goal here on the Day Designer team. You’ll often find us sharing our latest favorites with each other around the office. Just like you, we’re inspired every single day by the books and articles we read, podcasts and talks we listen to, posts from favorite bloggers—and even quotes on Pinterest!

While we’ve sprinkled links to many of these in our blog posts over the years, today we’ve pulled together the top TED Talks that inspire us to design a life that is more engaged, present, and authentic. Take a listen for ways to improve yourself, your happiness, and your career!

AMY CUDDY: Your Body Language May Shape Who You Are

Social psychologist Amy Cuddy’s research on body language reveals that we can change other people’s perceptions—and even how we see ourselves—simply by changing body positions. Amy argues that “power posing” can boost feelings of confidence, and might have an impact on our chances for success. Length: approximately 21 minutes.

SHAWN ACHOR: The Happy Secret to Better Work

Happiness researcher, author, and speaker Shawn Achor is one of the world’s leading experts on human potential and believes that happiness is a choice. In his leading TED Talk, Shawn questions that while we believe we should work hard in order to be happy, could we be thinking about things backwards? He argues that happiness is actually what inspires us to be more productive. Length: approximately 12 minutes.

DAN GILBERT: The Surprising Science of Happiness

Psychologist and author Dan Gilbert challenges the idea that we’ll be miserable if we don’t get what we want. Dan explains that “synthetic” happiness is just as beneficial as natural happiness—and can make us just as happy (or more so!) even when things don’t go as planned. Length: approximately 21 minutes.

Brene Brown: The Power of Vulnerability

One of our favorites of all time, researcher and author Brené Brown studies human connection: our ability to empathize, belong, and love. In her poignant yet humorous talk, she shares a key realization from her research, which sent her on a quest to truly get to know herself and understand humanity. Length: approximately 20 minutes.

TIM FERRIS: Why You Should Define Your Fears Instead of Your Goals

Best-selling author and podcaster Tim Ferriss uncovers that what we most fear doing, asking, and saying is often exactly what we need to do. To overcome self-paralysis and take action, Tim encourages us to engage in a powerful exercise he calls fear-setting. Learn how this practice can help you thrive during times of stress and separate what you can control from what you cannot. Length: approximately 13 minutes.
