We’re three full months into the year, and if there’s one thing most of us wish that we had more of, it’s time. No matter how organized we try to be often there are just not enough hours in the day. And not enough time to fit everything into our schedule!

As time flies by, it’s common to feel discouraged and overwhelmed. It can seem as if the days are slipping through your fingers. And if all of your waking hours are devoted to your tasks, then you’ll inevitably find that you have too little time left over to spend on things you love and enjoy.

If this sounds like you, you’re not alone. The good news, though, is that there are ways to hit the reset button on how you approach your time and schedule.

Start fresh this month by aiming to get the most out of your day. Carve out time for things that matter, and free yourself up to focus on things that are important to you.

Careful and deliberate planning can help you accomplish more, and most importantly will allow you to know that your time’s being spent on things that really matter.

With this in mind, here’s a look at ways to get a fresh start in how you plan your day—making the most of the hours in it!

Start the Night Before

One way to get more out of your day is by starting the night before. By making a list or scheduling out your day ahead of time, you’ll be able to give yourself a head start. Writing things down the night before will also help you go to sleep with a clear mind—saving you from having to think about all of the things that you need to accomplish the following day.

While some days you might just go with the flow without much of a plan or schedule, having a plan is important—especially for those days where you have a lot to do. Taking the time to map out your day by prioritizing both pressing and important tasks will help you maximize your time and allow you to ensure that the most important things get done.

Have a Morning Routine

Mornings are often rushed and busy. This chaos can set the tone for the entire day, leaving you feeling overwhelmed and in a constant state of anxiety. Instead of leaving mornings to chance, make a plan and establish a routine that works for you. Doing so will help you to set your day up for success, and get it off to the best start possible.

Start Saying No

Too busy? No time to spend on things that you’d like to? It may be time to take a serious look at your commitments, to see if there’s anything that you can cut out, or reduce. If someone asks you to take on another responsibility, don’t feel guilty saying no! After all, we have to say no sometimes—in order to say yes to things that matter most.

Have Inspirational Time

While it’s easy to unwind in front of the TV, it’s also vital to schedule in down time to do things that are meaningful and important to you. Pencil in time to read, journal, workout, or do other things that you enjoy and find fulfilling. It will do wonders for your outlook and will feed your mind and spirit—allowing you to feel refreshed and ready to go once again.

Beware of Time Wasters

Being intentional with your time also means paying attention to the small things that could be eating into your day as well. Social media, mindless browsing, and checking your email are seemingly harmless, but if left unchecked, they can quickly add up. If you feel that these types of activities are eating into your day, be diligent! Consider allowing yourself a set amount of time that you spend on emails, social media, and other similar pursuits.
